I'm new does this diet really work?
can I eat as many fruits as I want as long as I dont mix them with anything?
do you have any special tip or suggestion to share with me?

This diet works, provided you cut out the mixtures rich in sugar and fat like cake, biscuits and rich sauces.
You also need to take a reasonable amount of exercise.

so, i started on the hay diet about two weeks ago, and i'm feeling better already. lost about 5 pounds, and i have more energy. but, i do have questions.
so, questions 1:
can i eat tofu for protein?
i'm a vegeterian that does eat egg but does not eat fish, meat, poultry, etc.
so, i find myself almost "forced" to eat tofu for protein. (other sources are beans and cheese). now, the book i read was from 1989 (i'm ordering a new one as I write this), and says nothing about soy products. it does however speak out against highly processed foods, which tofu is.
can I drink plain water during meals?
it says you shouldn't drink during meals, which i find very hard, and then it gives exceptions, like a special kind of tea... is H2o ok or not? you'd think theyd write about the most important substance on earth... also, the book recomends drinking a glass of water with wheat bran before your meals. so it's ok to drink right before the meal and not he mael itself? sound weird to me...
is humus protein?
i think it is, since it's made from grabonzo beans, but i'm not sure...

Tofu is protein from soya beans. You would not want to eat large quantities of the beans themselves!
Your digestive system needs water with meals, and most cooked food contains a lot of water anyway - soup, veg fruit etc.
Wheat bran is not good for you - avoid it. Eat brown rice, potatoes in their skins and plenty of fresh fruit and veg.

Wheat bran contains highly abrasive silica needles. These irritate the digestive system. The increase in bran consumption is now thought to be directly related to the dramatic increase in iritable bowel syndrome,and the coeliac condition in older people.
The consultant at my local hospital who treats these conditions strongly advises that you avoid wheat bran.

so, i go the newer book i ordered (food combining for vegeterians), and it does cover allot of things, but still, more questions arise:
1. i never got a reply regarding humus. i always thought that beans are protein, but this book says all legumes with the exception of soy, are starch, which would make humus starch, and me a happy man, since i can eat my pita with my humus again :) - is this true?
2. coconut milk - starch, protein, neutral?
3. mango - starch, protein, neutral?
4. soy souce - starch, protein, neutral?
5. is it really bad for me to have balsamic vinegar? and if not, - starch, protein, neutral?

Peas and beans contain a higher proportion of protein than whole grains, and white flour contains the least protein.
Soya contains the highest protein of any bean, and tofu is the concentrated protein, but soya is not a particularly good food to eat in quantity.
The inside of a potato is almost pure starch, but the skin contains more protein.
Your humus, made with chick peas and olive oil, will be low in protein and will not be that different from the protein level in bread, so I would regard humus on bread as a healthy option.
coconut milk and mango are both mostly water - you would have to eat very large quantities to get significant protein, so regard them as neutral.
Soy sauce itself is slightly different. Like strongly flavoured extracts like vegimite or marmite, it may fool the digestive system into behaving as though it was eating a largely protein meal. For this reason I would only eat these as part of a protein meal, not as spreads on bread.
Vinegar I would regard as neutral in small amounts ( for people of western origin who have digestive enzymes for alcohol and vinegar - but not for people of eastern origin )

if wheat bran is so bad, what type of bread products are healthy ? Is whole wheat, oat bran, wheat flour, etc. the same thing as wheat bran? I love wheat bread, oat meal, bran muffins, multi grain pancakes, and I eat at least 4-6 slices of bread daily and at least 1 of the other foods I've mentioned also daily, so are any of these considered bad ? Any information on this wpuld be very helpful.

well, from everything i've read, stay away from white flour, and any type of flour except wheat. i think there is a differance between that and wheat bran - peter, any words of advice

so, to finalize it:
you would classify most of the beans as part of a protein meal, right?
and this includes garbonzo beans, black bean and pinto...
there seem to be allot of things that different from one book to next. i believe that as long as i keep the \%80 fruits and vegetables rule, i'll figure out the food combning thing eventually. and my body does feel great. lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks and i have allot more energy..
