vegatarian diets
2002-07-21 My son and I are both vegetarians, my husband eats fish and poultry when we are out for a meal (no dead things in the house). We eat alot of Quorn and Cauldron Foods products, as these are based on mushrooms do they count as protein or vegetables?Re: vegatarian diets
Peter2002-07-23 If you eat the mushrooms it would count as a vegetable. However when the protein is extracted, processed and chemically altered to resemble meat protein, then you would need to class it as meat.
It is much healthier to eat your vegetable protein in the natural vegetable than to eat the processed product.

Re: vegatarian diets
2003-09-24 I want to become a vegatarian for health reasons and to lose weight and keep it off. However, I do not know the what to do. What is not acceptable as full vegatarian. Is there a book that I might read to find out the basics etc.Re: vegatarian diets
Woz2003-09-25 You can lose weight and maintain health on a meat eating or vegetarian diet. Processed food wether it is vegetarian or meat based is unhealthy.Being a vegetarian is easy. All you do is not eat any animal or fish/seafood products. No book needed for that is there?
Being healthy is much more difficult though. Why make it harder by restricting your healthy food choices?
