I was once told by a holistic practioneer that pain redcuers such as aspirin etc all are not acceptable for those with gluten intolerance such as I am....I try to take them only when I have a very high fever with the flu or something like that

Aspirin can cause irritation of the lining of the digestive system.
This is not good for anyone whose digestive system is easily irritated.
