Re: Fish and Chips: from John Penaluna on 2007-06-20

Ref 1961

There is a fish and chip shop in the South Wales area, they held their first Coeliac night on 6th June 2007 and the next one is planned for Wednesday 4th July 2007.

There is a cafe where you can sit down, the cafe is open 4.30 - 7.30 and the take away is open 4.30 - 9. ish

The sign over the door currently reads Bedonia Cafe and Fish Bar but will soon be changing to The Cafe and The Chippy (They are waiting for a refit). at 35a & 36 High Street, Hirwaun, CF44 9SW Tel 01685 811522- the shop is owned by Lee Penaluna who took the business on a year ago, he intends to run a Coeliac night the first wednesday of each month. the first night saw people travel from Cardiff, Builth Wells, Merthyr, Mountain Ash and Abergavenny. The shop uses Glu 2 Go batter mix and also sells other gluten free products including battered gluten free sausages, onion rings mushrooms, and pineapple fritters with ice cream.

The shop is open for "normal" trade at lunch time then they close to thoroughly clean everything and replace all the oils re- opening at about 4.30.

The shop is "recommended" by the Cardiff Coeliac support group and details can be found on their web site, also on the Glu 2 Go site

Does anyone know of a fish and chip shop doing gluten free anywhere near Maidenhead, Berkshire? I would even have a day trip into London!
