My 16 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with CD. One day we think we are doing well with it then we find out another "hidden" ingredient. She was drinking diet pepsi and diet coke, but apparently the caramel colouring is making her sick. Does anyone know if this is one "THE LIST" of forbidden ingredients

I was diagnosed with CD in my fifties. I too find that caramel colouring gives me symptoms as though I have eaten gluten. Yet caramel colouring is said to be made from sugar and some web sites say it is safe. But I exclude it now - look at all the ingredients for caramel colouring and E150 (alternative term for caramel colouring

I was just diagnosed with CD yesterday. I have had the worst bloating and abdominal pain for going on two years now. After reading all of the effects of CD it all makes sense. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis at age 32 and diagnosed with IBS 4 years ago, so I have a feeling that I have had this for quite some time. I am scheduled for biopsy in 2 weeks. I immediately got online to get more info and am so overwhelmed at the impact that this is going to have on my life. I'm scared to death that I won't be able to stick to it. The hardest part about getting this diagnosis now is that we just moved to Japan 3 months ago as my husband is in the Army, and the only place we have to go grocery shopping is at the commissary on base. I'm pretty sure that they don't have alot of gluten free foods, and I have no idea how to read or speak Japanese to shop off post. Does anyone have any suggestions?
