3.Walking in New Zealand: Auckland

Auckland is a small city by world standards, with a very compact city centre This view of the city is from the top of North head, Devonport.
Even though Devonport is so close to the city centre, the view in the opposite direction shows the sandy beaches and well spaced houses on quiet streets
As the city is so small, it is best explored on foot We stayed in Devonport and caught the ferry over to the centre of the city. Free city maps can be picked up at any visitor information centre. We walked up Albert Street befor turning left into Victoria Street East, then into Albert Park.
