Shopping Walk and Cycle in Crete
Shops are normally open between 08.00 and 13.30 from Monday to Saturday. In the main tourist areas shops seem to be open seven days a week from early morning until late at night.
There are a large number of banks and other establishments offering to change money in the main tourist areas areas, often at the official rate but do check beforehand.
Official bank hours are also from 08.00 to 13.30 from Monday to Saturday.
Credit cards are accepted by most large hotels and shops in the main tourist areas but Access and Visa signs are often displayed by shops that do not accept them so check first. Eurocheques are much more widely accepted.
There is a lot of red tape involved in sending parcels home so plan to take any purchases back with you. The postal system is slow and cards can take over a week to reach home.
