Up Marden Church – St Michael. Probably 13C on the site of an older church.

The upper arch is probably C13, but the lower arch supporting it dates from 1625

This church seems to be a mixture of old and new from C11 onwards
A clever mechanism and a counterbalance weight immediately above the font cover allows it to be moved up and down with ease. The font is probably C15
The column and arch visible in the wall from both sides hints at some major changes.
The tiled design may date from 1849
