Walking in New Zealand Okere Falls Rotorua
pageid = 182 parentid = 7674
The Okere Falls drain the Rotorua and Rotiti Lakes through a series of narrow clefts and deep pools
The walkway starts close to the main highway and follows the river downstream Steps take you down to viewpoints overlooking the falls As we were watching a canoe plunged down into the pool below
Steps carved out of the rock lead down to a cave at the waters edge
We waited with cameras at the ready - and were lucky to capture another canoe emerge from the foam Another canoe heading down to the next waterfall
The banks are thick with native vegetation
You can walk back up the road that serves this sheep farm to return to the car park
