The views from here can be tremendous - here looking out over Ilsington, the clay pits, Kingsteignton, The Teign estuary, with Teignmouth in the dip in the coastal cliffs

Hidden but close to the north of Haytor Rocks are these flooded quarries

These waters are deep and not safe for swimming.

One branch of the granite railway runs from that quarry, but the tramway is better preserved further west

Both branches end in quarries. In the opposite direction the tramway runs down to meet the canal that took the granite blocks down to the Teign Estuary. That path is signed as the Templer Way.

We took the right fork, heading for the path to Holwell Lawn Looking over Becks Brook towards Greator Rocks

Holwell Lawn is a carpet of bluebells in spring
